RE: Reading with Adult ADD
Depends on what you're reading. If I'm interested in a book, I have a problem breaking away from it. But when I'm studying (I'm in grad school) I have a tough time focusing on it. If you're reading a book that you're wanting to learn from (i.e. studying or a self-help book) it has helped me to first write out the table of contents (the major sections of the book), then I take a sheet of paper for each chapter with the section and chapter name/numbers and write the key points of the chapter (Example: Learning Disabilities: Ch 1 - ADD/ADHD). Helps me to focus because I'm looking for the main points of the chapter, also helps in studying because you have instant notes. The main sections of each chapter should be in the table of contents, or in bold print within the chapter. If anything is in italics or bolded, special attention should be taken.
