Winter blues
Does any body else have problems with their adhd children in the winter time? It is so hard to keep him cooped up inside all day. Can any one help me with some suggestions. |

hope some of these suggestions help...
Being ADD I remember many days that were rainy or snow bound. I had younger brothers so to entertain myself; and also to keep them out of trouble. I would dress up as characters of story book or make up songs and play this kind of game with them. Really I am surprised my youngest brother is so stable because of how many times I dressed him up as little red riding hood or an animal. I loved to dance since I was a child and my mother would have dance off contest with small prizes that would be given for learning a new dance or hours of just keeping me busy (it did help with my hyperactivity because it was exercise) Make believe is a strong adhd activity because they have great imaginations. Paint sets with different colors kept me busy for hours. Computer games or play station keeps my nephew who is ADHD entertained for hours. My friend has a Karoke machine for his son who sings for hours. What does your child like to do? If has pent up energy a exercise program that you do with them may help because it does release the need to move; and it also may help you tone up or lose some weight. I hope some of these suggestions help. |
