And someone will immediately start off by saying to you " is this going to be a long story?" or What is the point here- but you either forget or realized you didn't have one. I usually forget my point when someone asks me.

You know you are ADD when...

I am driving to Target and decide to call my mom & talk (mistake!!! I ALWAYS miss turns, etc. when I am talking on the phone).... we have been talking for about 20 mins. when I realize that I am standing in the GROCERY STORE, pushing a cart, in the produce department, looking around & wondering, "What am I doing here?!?! I am supposed to be at TARGET!!!

YKYAW...

...you go to the grocery store to buy coffee, and then get half-way home with a bag full of groceries and realize you forgot the coffee...

Great topic!

Wow, I can soooo relate to a lot of the postings on this thread! However, this is my favorite by far: Quote:

ADDAWAY said: Oops . . . I forgot but I'll be sure to remember to write you right away when I remember if I jot it down on a post-it with the pen that was just here a minute ago by my papers which have been moved by someone and obviously I need to put them in a folder that's over there so that won't happen again, ouch, what the heck is this laundry basket doing in the middle of the hallway and why doesn't anybody put stuff away where it belongs (I'll be good and just walk this over to the laundry room right away this time), well at least there's some coin there at the bottom of the washer. Is that the doorbell? No, that's my cell phone ... "oh that haircut appointment wasn't for tomorrow??" I better brush my hair in a hurry, that's where the pen was . . . ummm . . . I'm glad I remembered to go buy those post-it notes on the way back from the appointment but I have to get cash from the bank for gas and a treat for the receptionist as I'm running very late . . . . Sure I'll make it to the gas station as the last time I ran out on the road I was in school .... what was the name of that God-forsaken highway where I got stuck in ice-cold weather? Boy did I have to go then too ..... relief ..... oh yeah Google that gas station that charged me $4 for a quart container plus the gas while It's filling up. . . oh there's my Favorites, ADDitude, Forums, Log in, back to Forums, who posted that last one I was reading, no that's the name of who started the thread but the time for whoever posted last except for (boy I wish they made this easier like maybe I should write them a letter, no better yet I'll learn to do Web Design (I wonder what language I should learn HTML or C++ or A+ is that one a language or a test, well skip that, but maybe that tech guy who really owes me can help me build the web's unique, universal (and highest Google ranked?? how do you get there without $$$$??) I'll call it the "SUGGESTION BOX FOR EVERYTHING"? Cool idea. I won't forget that, but how many web pages should it have and what functionality? So what am I doing with this pen on my laptop at the airport b/c I promised myself to type all my reminders and notes onto Outlook?
I swear, I can have all those thoughts in that order within a microsecond without the adderall! I'm so glad I discovered I have adhd and can now find people that can relate!!!

I'll contribute to the "you know you have add"... when you are thinking about so many things at once and suddenly you stop and ask yourself.... "what was I just thinking about?"

you know your boyfriend is add when

he forgets his telephone, drives home efter it. Locks his keys in and phones efter help (son takes extra key to him), then when they return sits down to eat dinner with us and suddenly drops everything and runs out the door remembering he forgot to switch off his lights at home. crazy ha? then it gets really good when my ADD/austim boy flips off and my ADHD/Asperges wants to disappear under the table from all the chaos around me and him. Know the film "it don't get any better" pretty well sums my home and life up in a nut shell...

You start cleaning the kitchen...find something that belongs in the office. You go to the office to put it away, sit down to check your email, go on Facebook instead, decide to write a poem and several hours later realize that the water in the sink is cold.

Best thing about being ADD

The best about ADD is being ten times more organized compared to everyone else - for example I'm ADD & my partner jeremy is ADHD , now you would think I would be the one who has a hard time being organized , wrong Jeremy my other half looses his phone & wallet 10 times a a day - to say the least I am the one in the relationship who keeps him organized & myself but every time I organize him - he always finds ways to become un organized again for the 18th millionth time . The other best thing about being ADD is - I have a memory like an elaphent- I'm a list maker so I never forget anything except when i'm tired & hungry - The best thing about being ADD - My attenton span is better Jeremy's ( my other half of 8 yrs) he can't stay focused for more than 5 minutes

Too many things to mention

But two I have done today

Heated the same cup of tea 3 times because I kept forgetting it was in the microwave

Replied to a post, on this forum, had to open the same post in a second window just so I could remember what I was replying to

So glad I'm not alone.LOL

you know you have ADD when

you have to climb in the window at least once monthly becuase you locked yourself out of your house....

have to call the locksmith because you have locked your keys in your trunk for the THIRD time....

your paperwork piles from your current colloege classes are as messy as your 5 year olds Kindergarten paperwork pile(s) (what, now I have to "organize paperwork for 2 people? HELP!)......

You frequently get trapped in a thought pattern while driving and realize you don't know where you are/ or where you are going/ how you got there...

You want to cover your ears and scream when 2 people try to talk to you at 1 time... overload!

And you have to get off the computer NOW because you've been hyperfocused on this website and for the first time feel understood, but Oops, your son's school gets out momentarily.. so you better run over there!!
