Is Claritin a Stimulant?

does anyone know if claritin is a stimulant? I have always taken it as needed for a fuzzy headed feeling that I thought was allergy related, it usually helps, so why not. I have been recently diagnosed with ADHD and am waiting to talk with a doc about meds. But that appt isn't until next week. Sometimes I get desparate today, you know. I don't plan to make my own drug coctails in the in the future, I am just wondering if anyone else had found Claritin helpful in this way.

thanks, Nicole

Sleep Problems with Claritin

Hi Nicole! I completely understand. I am not sure if Claritin is a stimulant. But I know that if I take it, I have to take it in the morning, because if I take it at night it keeps me up for hours! Susan

Dangerous Combination?

before I was dx with adhd. I self-medicated myself because I noticed that caffiene helped with focusing better at work. Then I started taking claritin-d for some allergy issues and wow did I like the stimulation from the active ingredient pseudoephidrine 240mg.

So yes, claritin-d has stimulant properties. That's why it is being controlled and kept behind the counter at any store that has a pharmacy. Meth users use this ingredient to make that dangerous combination of meth. Perhaps, meth users also have adhd and don't know it because the info regarding adult adhd is still publicly not out there, although I have to applaud people like Ty Pennington from the tv show home improvement or what the real name of the show is for being a poster child/adult for this difference that some people have intrinsic chemical differences how their brains are wired and/or lack of appropriate absorption of norephineprine and dopamine in the neurons of the CNS.
