ADHD Awareness Week 2011: October 16-22

ADHD Awareness Week will take place Sunday, October 16, 2011, through Saturday, October 22, 2011. The theme of this year's week of advocacy is "Get the Facts." To help with ADHD Awareness Coalition's planning, take this online survey to share your experiences with ADD/ADHD.

ADHD Awareness Week

ADHD Awareness Week 2011 is fast approaching. So what can you do to participate and advocate for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD)? Below, we've pulled together a few simple actions you can take -- some as soon as today and some during ADHD Awareness Week 2011.

1. Share your ADD/ADHD experiences with the world. Take this five-minute survey put together by the ADHD Awareness Coalition, of which ADDitude is an organizing partner. During ADHD Awareness Week 2011, the survey results will be shared with news outlets around the country and will be available to view on The information you share could help others become more educated about this important topic. The survey will be open only until Friday, September 23, 2011, so don't wait, take it now! Note: This survey can be taken from the perspective of a parent to a child with ADD/ADHD or from the point of view of an adult with ADD/ADHD.

2. Print out the free ADHD Awareness Week 2011 poster (and share it with friends, family, schools, and libraries). Spread the word about ADD/ADHD and ADHD Awareness Week 2011 with this great flyer.

3. R.S.V.P. for ADDitude's ADHD Awareness Week 2011 Facebook event. Coinciding with the actual days of this year's ADHD Awareness Week, this event is virtual only -- a way to directly and effectively raise awareness to all of your Facebook friends. Anyone can "attend," invite others, and start discussions on the event page.

4. Join @ADDitudeMag in using the hashtag #ADHDAwarenessWeek on Twitter.

5. Head to our ADHD ADDvocacy resource center to discover helpful statistics and tools, humor, perspective, support, and motivation. Print these and share them with others.
