Scholarships for ADHD and LD Students

College acceptance letters have started to trickle in, but now how to finance university tuition? These scholarships, specifically awarded to ADD/ADHD and LD students, have approaching deadlines.

Several college scholarships specifically designed to help assist students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) and learning disabilities (LD) have deadlines staggered over the next several weeks. We've done our best to highlight them here. If you know of any others, please share them in the comments.

Every year, the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) offers several scholarships, worth $1,000 to $5,000, to students who have shown promise by overcoming the obstacles of ADD/ADHD. Learn more about the three Novotni College Scholarships available this year and apply on ADDA's website. Deadline: March 15.

If you know someone already affiliated with the P. Buckley Moss Society, the Anne & Matt Harbison Scholarship, worth $1,500, is available to one high school senior with a verified language-related learning disability. Note: Nominations for the scholarship must be made by Society members. Deadline: Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31.

Incight, a leading non-profit supporting people with disabilities, offers yearly scholarships worth $750 each. Residents of Coachella Valley, Calif., are eligible for additional award money. Scholarships can be renewed each year. Check the Incight website for more information. Deadline: April 1.

A few state-, country-, and school-specific opportunities include:

Arkansas: The Ralph G. Norman Scholarship, provided by the Learning Disabilities Association of Arkansas, offers three scholarships worth $2,500 each to Arkansas residents pursuing higher education. Learn more on the LDAA website. Deadline: March 18.

Iowa: The Learning Disabilities Association of Iowa offers three scholarships, worth $1,000 each, for college, university, or vocational training. Find out more on the LDA-IA website. Deadline: March 31.

Florida: Florida State University offers two scholarships to students with learning disabilities, the Johnson Scholarship and the Learning Disability Merit Scholarship. Information about both can be found on the FSU Student Disability Resource Center website. Deadline: May 15.

Canada: A list of Canadian LD-related scholarships can be found on the Learning Disabilities Resource Community website. Note: Award money and deadlines vary.
