Lace up your Asics and walk a 5K to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of attention deficit. Sponsored and hosted by CHADD in Arlington, Virginia, on Sunday, May 18, the event will have fun activities for the kids and give ADHD families an opportunity to bond with each other and hear inspiring stories.

ADHD coaches, tutors, and therapists, who will exhibit and answer your ADHD-related questions, will also attend the event. As a further inducement to get you to sign up and show up, the walk will take place in beautiful, wooded Bluemont Park, along the Old Dominion Trail. All walkers will receive a T-shirt.

Walkers are invited to fund-raise to help the ADHD community. After you register, you will be able to set up an individual fundraising page that you can share with your networks. Better yet, form a walk team with your family, friends, or co-workers. Registration fees are $10 for an individual and $25 for a family. You can make a donation to CHADD to help other families struggling with ADHD.

If you live outside Washington, D.C., gather with your friends and walk together in your local area. Encourage coordinators of your local ADHD support group to get involved on this special day. Your event could be as simple as walking to your closest elementary school and back. As you walk, take pictures and post them to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest using #ADHDWalk.
