My ADHD Is Like…

So, I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a list of similes and metaphors that I use to describe my ADHD. I always find myself saying, “I have the attention span of a gnat,” and as of late, it just hasn’t been doing it for me. It’s totally, like, so five years ago, and I thought it was time to revamp said phrasing into something a bit more … current. Are you ready for what I’m about to put down? I hope so because here it is:

My attention span is like Kim Kardashian’s marriage.

BOOM!

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, Kim Kardashian recently ended her marriage after just 72 days … SEVENTY-TWO FREAKIN’ days! I felt that her marriage captured the true essence of how our (those of us blessed with ADHD) brains jump from one thing to the next. Her marriage is a prime example of how NOT to follow through on a “commitment.” Am I right?

I’m partially kidding about adopting the above phrase for a day. However, I would like you to try something else for one week. Think of one thing you’d like to improve about yourself, and I’ll do the same. It could be taking your lunch to work each day, or perhaps you’d like to exercise for at least 30 minutes each day … Whatever it is, let’s make a collective effort and encourage one another.
