Is your mind filled with racing thoughts? You're not alone. Recently, a reader posted the following on ADDConnect, our community for families whose lives have been touched by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD):

"From the time that my eyes open till the time that they close at night, my mind is always racing with thoughts, mostly negative thoughts. Does anyone know if medication will help with this? I can’t stop the negative thoughts. They keep me from concentrating on things that I need to be thinking about. I want to be positive. I want to believe in myself. I am always mentally exhausted from a mind that never stops. I often wonder what it would be like to have total silence for a little while, just to mentally relax. Am I the only one with these problems?"

And with several replies echoing these symptoms and concerns, we turned to ADHD coach Beth Main, the founder of, to explain how negative racing thoughts can be reduced by using medications and alternative treatments. Watch the video, then share your experiences with racing thoughts — and how to avoid them — in the comments below.
