My ADHD son struggles with anxiety and is constantly worried about everything: doing well on tests, his dog getting sick, Ebola — you name it! Are there any natural treatments we can try?

First, I would make sure that he sees a qualified physician to help with the diagnosis. This is not something that should be handled by a parent alone.

There are natural treatments available. I divide them into two types: mental health/mind-body treatments and nutritional supplements. In the first category, depending on your son's age, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) may be helpful. Two mind-body interventions, self-hypnosis training and biofeedback, may also be effective in managing anxiety.

In the supplement category, inositol and theanine can help your son manage anxiety. A qualified professional should be consulted when trying these treatments.
