Does Mindfulness Help ADHD Symptoms?

I have heard a lot about mindfulness doing wonders for ADHD symptoms. Does it really help? If it does, can I do mindfulness at home, or do I have to see a counselor to show me how?

There is some interesting preliminary evidence to suggest that mindfulness, specifically the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR), may help ADHD symptoms.

One can learn how to practice mindfulness from a book or an audio- or videotape. However, it is best to receive the initial training in person. It does not have to be a one-on-one session with a counselor. There are many group mindfulness-training sessions available. I highly encourage those who are interested in this technique to give it a try. Mindfulness has also been successfully used for anxiety, depression, stress reduction, and other problems.
