Want to make sure you get the medications you need? Do your homework — and be persistent!


My insurance company said they would cover only the generic version of the stimulant medication I take — but there is no generic version. Once I made this clear, they started covering it.

After that, it took awhile to find a pharmacy that carries the medication. Eventually, I just asked my pharmacy to special-order it for me. One time, it was on back-order. I had to call all over the county to get enough tablets to fill my prescription.
