    A full stomach
I have add and cannot go to sleep unless my stomach is full. I drink a glass of cold milk every night before i go to bed. If i do wake up in the middle of the night i sometime have a snack and more milk. Sometimes i have even found that i if i feel parched then i need to rehydrate with a glass of water. After i do that, i sleep like a baby.

    Other sleep strategies
    Hi Deborah,
Our poll function doesn't currently allow for an "Other" -- an open-ended option -- but you're right. We should have asked readers to add their own thoughts to the page using the comments function, since there are so many other creative ways parents are helping their kids wind down for sleep. Thanks for the feedback, and we hope you find ADDitude helpful!

    Disappointed in your choices!
It seems you want to skew your results with no choice of "other"! We use the technique of brushing - with the brush or by hand. The pressure on the arms and legs is very calming. I was fortunate in having a very good OT teach me how to use the technique. We use is for bedtime and/or times of anxiety.

    Sleeplessness
Watch out for prescription sleeping pills, my son became very depressed and needed hospitalization.

    Having a fan on
My son has to have a fan on no matter what the temperature is outside. He loves to hear the fan movement at all times. It really bothers him if I were to ever turn it off -- he really does notice a difference (they do burn out from being on all the time -- but they're cheap). When younger, he would have the have a light and/or tv on -- but now it bothers him if they are on while sleeping. He also use to take medicine before going to sleep, but doesn't need this anymore. Oh yeah, and he has to have both of our dogs in bed with him!
