Teacher Choice

Choosing a teacher wisely can mean big payoffs for a child with ADD.

At our high school, each student’s teachers are usually assigned randomly by a computer. However, our son’s guidance counselor carefully hand-picked energetic, engaging, practical teachers who use visual and hands-on teaching techniques, including two who coach him in his after-school teams. Because their interest in him extended beyond the classroom, he was highly motivated in their classes. Teachers who used primarily lecture techniques were largely avoided.
