Pharmacy rejects ADHD treatment for adults

An ADDitude reader stands up to embarrassing treatment at the pharmacy.

One time I went to pick up my prescription, only to find that it hadn’t been filled. The pharmacist came out and told me, in front of other customers, that my coverage had been denied. He claimed that my insurance would cover only people age 23 or younger. This turned out to be incorrect. I was able to have it filled elsewhere. It was so embarrassing — I felt like I was doing something wrong.
