Need-to-Know Basis

Many parents divulge a diagnosis on an as-needed basis, but find it encouraging to confide with other parents of ADDers.

I’m tight-lipped about my nine-year-old daughter’s ADHD, but I share it on an as-needed basis with those who I’m confident will understand—her teacher, her tutor, a couple of my friends, and members of our extended family. I find relief in talking about it with other parents of children who have ADHD or learning disabilities.
