A Pocket for Everything

One parent finds organization success in an accordion folder.

"My 11-year-old son has a hard time with organization, but we've found that an accordion folder really helps. We assign each school subject its own pocket, and reserve a pocket for blank paper and one for notices to bring home - all labeled."

    Organization troubles
My daughter is a freshman in HS this year and has had a trying time keeping up with homework, turning it in even when it is done, etc. We use an organizer that has a section for each class, with pockets that are labled for homework to be graded, homework that was returned, etc. The problem is she doesn't remember to look in the pockets! An accordion won't work because she'd have too many loose papers for all of her (6) classes. Any suggestions on forgetting to turn in homework?

It has been great for us too!
My son was perpetually forgetting this or that. Each time it was something different. We would develop a plan to remember x and then he would forget y. Now he basically carries 90% of his desk in an accordion folder from class to class & back & forth to home. We have had very few problems both at school and at home since then.

    great idea
My 16 year old is really struggling to maintain his homework and has failed many classes because of this, I don't feel that the school recognizes his problem at all, they really don't want to deal with it. I am going to get a file now! Thanks
