ADD Is Not My Choice

One reader addresses a persistent myth about ADD with blunt honesty and humor.

 

Recently I was told that hyperactive adults can control themselves by simply choosing to sit still.

I replied by sharing my personal experiences with hyperactivity, fatigue, and the depression that is sometimes triggered by my difficulty completing even easy tasks. Just yesterday, my pants were on backwards for most of the day!

    Thank you for your confession. I have a 9 year old daughter with ADHD. I worry so much about her well being but at the same time find her frustrating. It's like there is this wall between us....
