Canadian health officials will once again allow doctors to prescribe Adderall XR in Canada. Reacting to reports of deaths among users of the popular AD/HD drug, Canadian regulators took it off the market last February. An independent panel reviewed the risks associated with the drug and recommended that officials put it back on the market.
New consumer labeling on Adderall XR will include warnings about higher risks to people with structural heart abnormalities. Another warning will advise about the danger of misusing stimulants. These additions will make Canadian packaging consistent with the FDA's package inserts in the U.S.
