In typical students, reading ability and intelligence are closely related and influence each other over time. However, researchers at Yale School of Medicine and the University of California, Davis, found that reading ability and IQ are not linked and do not influence one another in children with dyslexia Dyslexia is a common learning disability in ADHD children. Roughly half of children and adolescents with ADHD also have some type of learning disability, such as dyslexia or auditory processing disorder. Researchers believe that this discovery explains why a dyslexic child can be bright and still unable to read well. The findings "support the concept that dyslexia is an unexpected difficulty with reading in children who otherwise have the intelligence to learn to read."
