Need for Better Med Management at School

Medication errors can have consequences for a child's social, academic, and physical functioning, but a new study suggests that when kids are involved in medication administration, fewer errors are made.

Saturday April 26th - 1:17pm

A recent study looking at medication errors at school has uncovered some surprising data for parents whose children take a dose of ADHD medication during the school day.

Among the findings: Missed doses occur more frequently in students with ADHD than in those with diabetes or asthma. Missing medication could have an adverse effect on schoolwork and friendships.

To minimize medication errors, researchers suggest that school nurses involve students when putting together a medication plan.
