Learn to Focus with ADHD
Preliminary research suggests that participation in a martial arts program can help children with AD/HD develop better self-control. Eric Cooper, a Ph.D. candidate in educational psychology at Capella University in Minneapolis, gauged the severity of symptoms in five boys and one girl with AD/HD before and after they took several weeks of Tae kwon do instruction. He found that three of the children showed reductions in hyperactivity and inattention. Cooper concluded that martial arts may help kids with AD/HD, but that larger studies are needed. |
