Adults Using AD/HD Medication Should Watch Their Blood Pressure

Common meds may cause adults' blood pressures to rise.

Common AD/HD medications - including non-stimulants - may cause adults' blood pressure to rise. Researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School found a small but significant increase in the blood pressure of adults taking any one of the five medications for AD/HD, compared to that of adults taking a placebo. In their study, published in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, the researchers recommended that adults taking medication for AD/HD get their blood pressure checked before they start the medication, as well as at regular intervals during treatment.
